Migration Matters- Photographic exhibition
18/05/2022
We are very pleased to be part of a collaborative photographic exhibition that will be included in the Migration Matters Festival 2022, in Sheffield.
The title of the project is:
A Tale of Two Sheffields: Everyday Borders and City of Hope
This exciting exhibition is the culmination of a photography art project, facilitated by Dr Maria Teresa Ferazzoli (The University of Sheffield) and Abigail Ward, in collaboration with Chilypep in Sheffield. Chilypep is a Children and Young People’s Empowerment Project, and the photography project worked with young migrants at "The Happy Group", and was supported by staff members, Anna Graham and Emily Inglis.
The exhibition, will be at the City of Sanctuary (Chapel Walk, Sheffield) and we will display photographs taken by the young people, alongside their commentary on the photographs.
Join us at the launch event on the 20th of June from 5:30 to 7:30.
The artists (young people) will attend the launch event and share what inspired their phtographic decisions, and their experiences of life in Sheffield.
By exhibiting these photographs at the Migration Matters Festival, the young people will create a space in which they are able to express their experiences of what they describe as 'the two sides of Sheffield'. In doing so, this provides an opportunity for the young people to tell their stories and have their voices heard.
